How should I prepare for my cusotmized facial?

• Skip any strong exfoliants a week before your appointment. Gentle exfoliants may be stopped about 3 days in advanced, if possible. • Avoid excessive sun exposure. • Do not wax 24-48 hrs prior to your appointment. Waxing may cause irritation and a stinging sensation during facial. • If possible, arrive with no makeup. This will allow more time to enjoy your treatment. • Lastly, ENJOY! A facial is meant to be relaxing. Whether you follow this list or not, your esthetician will guide you through the best treatment possible for your skin.

How do I care for my facial?

• in order to preserve and maximize your results, It is important that you keep up with the recommended maintenance of your facial.
• You should ALWAYS wear SPF (unless your going to bed). After a facial your skin will be stimulated and resurfaced and the last thing you want to cause is sun damage.
• If your are getting your facial done close to bed time, do not wash your face. Your esthetician has already done so and has chosen the appropriate serums and creams to benefit your skin while you catch up on your beauty sleep. • Skip the gym or any exercise that may cause over stimulation of the skin due to sweat and increased circulation for about 24 hrs. • Avoid exfoliation for 48 hrs after. Your skin has just recieve a professional level of exfoliation so you don't want to over exfoliate.
• Keep your hands away from your face and avoid makeup if possible. Your pores have experienced a deep cleansing treatment and we want to avoid as much bacteria as possible.

Do I really need to purchase the recommended products?

Your estheticians responsibility is to recommend products that will provide the maximum results. Your facial service will be, at most, twice a month. This means most of your skincare will be done at home. Think of it as weight loss.. you won't get the same results if you are only eating healthy one day out of the week. Your home regimen is your skin's diet. A professional facial will give your skin a 'work out', but you should be equipped with good quality products to nourish your skin and target your concerns..

What are the different types of customized facials?

The main difference between our customized facials, is type of exfoliation method used in each treatment. So lets break down the different categories:

FACIALS: This is normally what i recommend first time clients. Your cusotmied facial contains Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Acid's to help chemically unglue the bond between dead skin cells. The type of exfoliant will highly depend on your skin type. AHA's are water based and tend to be more hydrating and remain on the out side of the pore. While BHA's are oil-based and work to dissolve the dead cell glue outside and inside the pore.

ENZYMES: These facials offer many benefits for the skin. The enzymes used to help exfoliant the skin are derived from fruit! They gentlely work to dissolve the dead cell istelf, as opposed to dissolving the glue. This exfoliation method ONLY digest dead cells and scar tissue, without damaging any live tissue. Apart from a gently exfoliant, each fruit enzyme will have natural properties to help target concerns such as: pigmentation, aging, acne, dry skin, oil control, etc.

FACIALS WITH MACHINES: Pairing a facial with a machine helps improve the the exsisting benefits and maxmize the results we are going for. For example, Microdermabrasion can be used alone as a physical exfoliant or following and enzyme treatment to buff off and remaining dead cells. L.E.D Therapy is a another great option to add to help repaor the skin or as a targeted acne treatment.

Chemical Peels

Should I be on a home regimen prior to my chemical peel?

Absolutely! This will ensure your skin is prepared for a Chemical Peel and give your skin a high success rate for recovery. For grade II preps and above we recommend, using a PRE/POST treatment kit 2 weeks prior to your treatment. By committing to the use of your peel kit, you will temporary turn off the melanin production in your skin preventing any unwanted pigment to form or surface. Your kit will also prepare your skin by softening the epidermis in order for the peel to penetrate easier.

What can I expect DURING treatment?

Your chemical peel will start with a traditional double cleanser to ensure all dirt, oil, and makeup residue has been removed. The peel will be applied to your skin and can remain on for 3-10 minutes. During this time, your skin may feel tingly depending on the level of peel and your skin sensitivity. This may easily be managed using a hand held fan to help apply cold air directly to reacting areas. The peel is removed and we will apply a moisturizer to your face and educate you on after care.

What can I expect AFTER my treatment?

Start by using your PRE/POST treatment kit 2 weeks prior to your treatment. With grade I peels, you may experience sensitivity and dryness. With deeper peels, your skin may experience redness, sensitivity following a few hours after, and flaking/peeling. Your skin can be expected to begin peeling between day 3-4 days and may last up to 1 week. Rough texture, browning appearance, tight skin, pronounced wrinkles, are all signs of your skin getting ready to peel! After 1 week you can expect your results to shine through. If there is any bothersome irritation, make sure to contact us for a healing clean. HAPPY PEELING!

The Blush Bar offers the following chemical peel depths: Grade I : Oxygenating Facial Peel & Signature Peel These are known as our no-peel peels. This treatment is ideal for those who are looking to boost their skin's appearance or jumpstart your skincare routine. Grade II : Radiance Lift & Probiotic Acne Lift You are sure to see mild peeling and possibly a bit of browning during healing time. Scheduling can be done every 2 weeks.
